This is a great performance of You rock my world by the king of pop during the Michael Jackson 30th Anniversary Special. Live from Madison Square Garden NY which later turned out to be his final concert. This is a performance that everyone must see and it includes a special appearance by Usher and Chris Tucker.
It is the only known performance of You Rock My World. It was supposed to be a part of Michael Jackson’s planned This is it tour (replacing The Way You Make Me Feel on some concerts).
Two anniversary shows were planned, the edition where Usher and Chris Tucker made their appearance was the second show. The shows were filmed for a CBS TV special, that sold out in 5 hours.
Michael Jackson 30th Anniversary Special
This was a special show at the Madison Square Garden in New York, an event to celebrate Michael Jackson’s solo career that saw the re-union on stage of The Jacksons in their original line-up and other big artists to perform Michael Jackson’s hits.
Opinions about the concert were divided. The real die hard fans thought the concert was great, but others thought the show was way too long-winded.
ABC News has put a nice review of the Michael Jackson 30th Anniversary Special online.
It is strange to think that this concert in 2001 would be his last concert. But it really was his last.
On March 5, 2009, Michael Jackson announced his final concert named “This is it” at a press conference at the London O2 Centre. He told the crowd: “This is it. When I say this is it, it really means this is it. This will be the final curtain call.”
Unfortunately it turned out not to be this is it, but this was it. His 30th Anniversary Special turned out to be his last concert.
